Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assesses, diagnoses, and treats physical conditions and injuries. Physiotherapists create personalized treatment plans to improve mobility, manage pain, and aid rehabilitation. They offer pain relief through exercises, manual therapy, and movement. Education and prevention are also integral, helping patients understand their condition and avoid further injuries. Physiotherapy promotes overall health through fitness programs and follows a patient-centered approach, enhancing quality of life.

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by some physical therapists, to treat muscular pain and myofascial trigger points. It involves inserting thin, solid needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into specific points in muscles or soft tissues. The goal is to stimulate or release trigger points, which are tight βknotsβ of muscle fibres that can cause pain, muscle tension, and reduce mobility. Dry needling is called "dry" because no medication or injection is involved, making it a purely mechanical intervention designed to alleviate muscle-related pain and improve function.

In our one-on-one assessment, we thoroughly examine your running history, strength, training, mobility, footwear, and running gait using video recordings to guide necessary biomechanical adjustments.
Despite comprehensive assessments and professional care, some runners face persistent issues. Training, strength, flexibility, and footwear can help with many problems, but stubborn injuries linger. This is where gait analysis delves into a runner's stride intricacies, offering insights crucial for resolving these enduring challenges.
This appointment is longer than traditional evaluations as we require more time to cover everything.

Bike positioning or fitting is a specialized appointment aimed at enhancing a cyclist's positioning and comfort on his/her bike. Everything from the pedals, the saddle and the handlebars can be modified to optimize performance, comfort or help decrease the risk of injuries. This appointment requires every cyclist to bring their bike, shoes and all the clothes they typically wear to ride.

Olivier Collin
Physiotherapist , Founder
Olivier graduated from Mcgill University in 2019 with a Masters of Physiotherapy. Prior to completing his degree at McGill, Olivier studied and competed at Fresno State University as a member of their cross-country and track roster. He competed in events ranging from 800m to the 10km cross-country. Struggling with injuries during his time in California, Olivier decided to transfer to the University of Victoria where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. This decision was prompted by his desire to gain better insight into injury risk reduction and injury management. Since graduating, Olivier has always looked for ways to connect more runners in the West-Island. He founded Nomad Runners in the summer of 2022 with his good friend Justin and later Nomad was lucky to have Daniela join as a co-leader. The group continues to meet regularly every Wednesday night at 6:30, with an always free formula and always hosted by Dani and Olivier
As a physiotherapist, Olivier maximizes his knowledge of running, performance and rehabilitation to help everyone dealing with acute and chronic injuries. He utilizes manual therapy, dry needling and exercise prescription to get his patients moving again.
