Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used by some physical therapists, to treat muscular pain and myofascial trigger points. It involves inserting thin, solid needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into specific points in muscles or soft tissues. The goal is to stimulate or release trigger points, which are tight βknotsβ of muscle fibres that can cause pain, muscle tension, and reduce mobility. Dry needling is called "dry" because no medication or injection is involved, making it a purely mechanical intervention designed to alleviate muscle-related pain and improve function.
